Counselling and supervision – AARC was established 10 years ago as a counselling organisation serving Renfrew and surrounding areas.  The remit and scope of the AARC Team has expanded and now delivers counselling and supervision across central Scotland.

Our aims are

To contribute to emotional health and wellbeing through effective counselling

To deliver for Scotland a new generation of reflective and skilful counselling practitioners

To raise the standards and outcomes of counselling in Scotland

The services we provide

Training

The AARC Team includes several highly qualified and accredited trainers who deliver a suite of courses including Scottish Mental Health First Aid, COSCA Counselling Skills Certificate, Diploma in Supervision and a post-graduate Integrative & Systemic Diploma in Counselling.

Our Team

Maria Jackson

I was attracted to the development model of counselling having first experienced the world of business. I draw on experience gained in both field to help clients move positively forward.

I am an integrated practitioner with training in Person Centred, Psychoanalytical, Solution Focused and Cognitive Behavioural theories. I use these within a problem management, opportunity development framework to offer counselling to people with a will to change. I also actively participate in Continued Professional Development .

Qualifications & Training:
  • Post Graduate Diploma in Adult Counselling and Health from Abertay University Dundee
  • Post Graduate Diploma in Relationship Counselling York St John University/ Marriage Care
  • Post Graduate Certificate in Supervision
  • Certificate in Facilitating Adult Learning
  • Transactual Analysis 101
Specialist Training:

As an ethical practitioner registered with BACP I undertake a programme of Continuous Professional Learning and Development and as such have undertaken training in some specialised areas such as:

  • Child protection
  • Domestic violence
  • Addiction
  • Suicide prevention
  • Self-harm

Trish Barry

Trish is an accredited trainer, supervisor and integrative counsellor able to work with individuals, couples and families. She has contributed to the development of the new Diploma in counselling: an integrative & systemic approach.

Qualifications & Training:
  • BA Sociology
  • Diploma in Relationship Counselling
  • Intermediate Certificate in Family Therapy & Systemic Practice
  • Accredited Counsellor Trainer at Diploma level
  • Certificate in Counselling Supervision
Membership of Professional bodies:
  • Practitioner member of COSCA

AnnMarie McKeown

AnnMarie is an accredited trainer, supervisor and integrative counselling practitioner able to work with individuals and couples. She has wide training experience and has delivered counsellor training in the university and charitable sectors. She is also accredited to deliver Scottish Mental Health First Aid.

Qualifications & Training:
  • Post graduate diploma in wellbeing counselling and psychotherapy
  • Diploma in Relationship Counselling
  • Certificate in Relationship Counselling
  • Advance course in Supervision at diploma level
  • Certificate in Counselling Supervision
Membership of Professional bodies:
  • Practitioner member of COSCA
  • Member of BACP and hold a BACP certificate of proficiency.

Aileen McKeown

Aileen is an accredited trainer, supervisor and integrative counsellor able to work with individuals, couples. She has wide training experience including a long career in teaching and as a High School Deputy Head Teacher.

Qualifications & Training:
  • MA English/History
  • PGCE
  • Diploma in Relationship Counselling
  • Accredited Counsellor Trainer at Diploma level
  • Certificate in Counselling Supervision
  • Institute Leadership Management: Coaching Level 5
Membership of Professional bodies:
  • Practitioner member of COSCA
  • GTCS registered

Charlene Jany

Charlene is an accredited trainer, supervisor and integrative counselling practitioner able to work with individuals and couples. She has wide training experience and has delivered counsellor training in the university and charitable sectors.

Qualifications & Training:
  • MSc in Psychological wellbeing, Counselling & Psychotherapy. (Specialising in working with couples & relationships)
  • COSCA Advanced course in Supervision
  • Advanced Diploma in Fertility Counselling
  • Postgraduate diploma in person centred counselling
Membership of Professional bodies:
  • Member of NCPS
